I work with more than a few young guys who work in construction who exhibit irresponsible and hazardous drinking. After working very hard for eight hours, it seems “logical” to go to the local watering hole to have a few beers with one’s buddies. Commonly, however, it seems that the well-intentioned beer or two turns into a situation in which more than a few drinks are ingested, a lot of cash is spent, and a lot of time is spent at the local drinking establishment rather than spending time with their friends, wife or girlfriend, or with their family.

Unhealthy and Abusive Drinking Can Result in Relationship, Friendship, and Marital Issues

Is it honestly all that surprising in these situations that quite a few these construction workers experience alcohol related financial problems in spite of the fact that they make quite a lot of money? How tough can it be for my hard working buddies to comprehend that abusive and hazardous drinking often leads to marital, communication, friendship, commitment, and relationship difficulties and often results in sexuality problems and affairs? Why are these alcohol abuse and alcoholic signs so hard for my hard working pals to see?

Unhealthy Drinking Can Result in DWIs, Problems at Work, More Than a Few Health Problems, and Various Mental Health Problems Such as Depression

Should it honestly be amazing to anyone that my hard working buddies could receive a DWI virtually any night or day of the week? Is anyone truly astounded when my hard working friends start to show up late for work due to their drinking behavior? Is anybody actually all that astounded that several of my hard working buddies need to strengthen their stress management, anger management, and their time management skills?

Does it really surprise anyone to know that these construction workers eventually complain about alcohol-related health problems such as hangovers, alcohol poisoning, a loss of energy, and sleep disturbances? Is it in point of fact shocking that many of my hard working buddies are starting to experience a variety of mental health issues such as depression? Why can’t these hard working guys “see” these alcohol effects on the body and on the mind?

In a way, these construction workers have gotten into a dysfunctional predicament that is leading them to a life of alcohol addiction or alcohol abuse. My wish is that these hard working guys will eventually see that irresponsible and hazardous drinking is the enemy and that they need to talk to their healthcare practitioner or somebody at the local drug and alcohol counseling facility about their problem drinking.

Concerning the drinking behavior exhibited by these construction workers, the key point is that honesty is required. Indeed, my hard working friends, similar to others who engage in irresponsible and abusive drinking, need to look at their behavior and make a truthful assessment of what abusive and hazardous drinking is doing to their jobs, to their health, to their finances, to their mental health, and to their relationships. In short, my hard working friends need to realize the alcohol short term effects of their hazardous and heavy drinking.

There’s Room For Optimism If Those Who Engage in Excessive Drinking Can Become Encouraged to Get the Alcohol Rehabilitation and Alcohol Detox They Require

My hard working buddies need to get motivated and enthused about wanting to make a favorable change in their lives. Stated more forcefully, these construction workers need to get motivated to go to their doctor or to the local drug and alcohol counseling facility and determine whether or not they are basically abusing alcohol or if they are addicted to alcohol. Based on their findings, my hard working friends then need to get the alcohol rehabilitation and the alcohol detox treatment they need.

The good news is that there’s a vast number of drug and alcohol treatment clinics, treatment centers, rehabilitation facilities, hospitals, and rehab programs where my hard working friends can get quality therapy for their hazardous and irresponsible drinking. And with a little effort, it’s even possible to find treatment centers, rehabilitation facilities, drug and alcohol treatment clinics, rehab programs, and hospitals that are relatively cost effective.

First-Rate Alcohol Abuse or Alcoholism Help Can Begin With a Single Phone Call

There were evidently times in the past when first-rate help for alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse was far less available and more expensive that it is now. Due to the noteworthy increase of alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse in the past five or ten years, then again, an alcohol abuser or alcohol addicted person more often than not has few, if any, feasible reasons for failing to face her or his abusive and hazardous drinking.

In fact, to begin the change process all it takes in many instances is a short and to the point phone call to one’s healthcare professional or to somebody at the local alcohol rehab facility. From that point forward, long term sobriety necessitates commitment, follow through, and a truthful desire to change one’s unhealthy style of life and enhance one’s positive attitude, self respect, goal setting skills, and one’s self worth.
